Federal Election Candidate Profiles - Alex Wehbe (Trumpet of Patriots)

Policies that make home ownership affordable, cutting government waste and lowering energy costs to reduce the overall cost of living are among the priorities of Trumpets of Patriots candidate Alex Wehbe if elected in Monash.
A resident in the Higgins electorate in Melbourne's inner south-east, Mr Wehbe said he'd nominated for Monash because he regarded it as a second home for him and his family who have spent endless holidays there, cared deeply about it and aimed to ensure it received the representation and respect it deserved.
A business owner and accountant he has lived his entire life in Victoria.
Mr Wehbe said he joined Trumpets of Patriots because it was a party committed to putting Australians first.
On home ownership he said he would advocate for a cap of three per cent on mortgage interest rates and allow people to access up to 30 per cent of their superannuation to buy a home.
He also believes a 15 per cent licence fee on iron ore exports would generate enough revenue to meet interest payments on Australia's trillion dollar debt and the almost $5 trillion Australians have in superannuation funds should be used to provide venture capital, infrastructure and industrial investments in Australia rather than, as at present, invested in Europe, Asia and the United States of America.
"These policies are focused on easing day-to-day financial pressure, make home ownership more affordable and secure long-term economic stability".
Mr Wehbe said renewable energy had its place but wind and solar could not run a country alone. "They don't meaningfully reduce costs of overall environmental impacts and often need replacing every 20 years".
"The only truly renewable thing about them is their cost".
That's why Trumpets of Patriots supports repealing the ban on nuclear energy to provide a reliable future-focused solution, Mr Wehbe stated.
He said he backed "strong Liberal Party measures" to support small businesses by increasing the instant asset write-off to $30,000 and allowing meal and entertainment expenses up to $20,000 to be tax deductible.
The party stands for a common sense approach that puts Australia first and is driven by everyday Australians that want to see the country strong, independent and prosperous again, Mr Wehbe said.
