Big day out for teaching staff

More than 600 teaching and support staff from West Gippsland schools gathered at Warragul Regional College for a "big day out" professional development day.

In June last year, the State Government announced a revised Victorian Teaching and Learning Model to be implemented across all government schools by 2028.
The model introduced evidence about how students learn as the basis for effective teaching.
Principals of West Gippsland government schools and their leadership teams spent 2024 learning about the latest in evidence based practices in teaching and learning and working towards a network approach to implementing this model in classrooms across the region.
On March 7, more than 600 teaching and support staff came together for a conference to hear from world class teaching and learning experts.
The conference was officially opened by Schools and Regional Services deputy secretary Dr David Howes.
Learnings from the day will continue to be implemented in schools for the remainder of 2025 with a view to have it embedded in classrooms from 2026.
