Latrobe Health Services is hosting AFL great Nathan Buckley as guest speaker at Farm World this week.
The Gippsland not-for-profit health fund is emphasising the importance of self-awareness, seeking support and fostering positive mindsets at Farm World and the Brownlow medallist will share personal stories and practical tips to overcome challenges, manage stress, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
As a member-owned fund, Latrobe Health is focussed on preventative health and the organisation and its staff focus on inclusivity and accessibility of health care, particularly in rural and regional communities.
"We are proud to host Nathan Buckley in Gippsland, and look forward to the practical tips he shares which will help to improve our health and wellbeing," Latrobe Health chief executive officer Ian Whitehead said.
Nathan is passionate about the subject. "It's not just what you eat but lots of little things you can do every day which benefit your overall well being. If we want to support and care for people, we really need to take care of ourselves as well. I've learned the happier and healthier you are, the more you have to give to the ones you love."
Latrobe Health is the proud founding partner of the Shane Warne Legacy. More than 260,000 free Shane Warne Legacy health checks have been delivered, on SiSU Health machines, nationwide in Priceline Pharmacies and at major events like the Boxing Day test and AFL Gather Round. Latrobe Health will be offering these checks during Farm World in the Country Living Pavilion.
"This initiative is one way we help our members, and the community check if they are at risk. Gippsland has some of the worst heart health outcomes in Australia, so we are encouraging anyone over the age of 18 years to participate in an easy, non-invasive Shane Warne Legacy health check," Mr Whitehead said.
Nathan will be speaking on Saturday at Farm World from noon to 1pm.
