Two inspiring agricultural businesswomen will share their stories at this year's Women in Ag luncheon which has become a major feature on the Farm World program.
Headlining the luncheon as this year's guest speakers are founder and chief executive officer of Merry People Dani Pearce; and, founder and chief executive officer of Motherland Stephanie Trethewey.
The annual event is an opportunity to connect with like-minded women, enjoy lunch and hear from two incredible speakers who will share their unique journeys in agriculture and beyond.
Attendees at the lunch will be inspired, challenged, and motivated by the speakers as they offer real-life insights, from triumphs to trials, pushing their audience to think outside the box and embrace new opportunities.
Inspired by her South Gippsland farm upbringing, 10 years ago Dani sought inspiration to recreate the humble gumboot - merging the technical elements of the boots she grew up with, combined with a classic everyday staple design.
Dani began Merry People a decade ago, selling at weekend farmers' markets - and today has bootstrapped its growth to 25 staff, distribution across Australia, the United State and United Kingdom and 165 retail partners, including 100 internationally.
Dani is passionate about values-led business; Merry People never discount its products and has never been dumped in landfill - the company only orders what it thinks it can sell.
Merry People also has partnered with causes close to its heart, selling boots to raise money and awareness for charities.
Stephanie was the 2024 Australian of the Year for Tasmania.
She is known as a visionary leader who has transformed personal challenges into a nationwide movement to support rural mothers across Australia.
Stephanie is a seasoned television journalist who has reported and produced for some of the country's biggest news and current affairs programs. In 2019, soon after having her first child, she swapped the city for the country and moved to rural Tasmania.
The transition was both a brutal and beautiful journey, and Steph's struggles with post-natal depression and isolation inspired the creation of Motherland, a national charity that supports rural mothers, reducing isolation and improving mental health outcomes for women on the land.
In 2022, Stephanie was named the national winner of the AgriFutures Rural Women's Award, and in 2023 she celebrated the release of her debut book, Motherland.
Stephanie also is a member of the Australian Advisory Council of Thankful4Farmers.
The luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 27 from noon to 2pm. Tickets are $85 per person (plus booking fee) which includes entry to Farm World, lunch and beverage on arrival. A pre-lunch welcome to country ceremony will be held in the Events Centre forecourt at 11.15am.
