Capturing Christmas memories has financially benefitted Baw Baw Food Relief.
Hummingbird Pictures photographer Rayleen Slegers was kept busy taking Christmas themed photos in December and the donations she received for her services became a fundraising bonus for Baw Baw Food Relief.
Rayleen said she offered to take photographs of children and families in Christmas settings at the light display of Mark and Krista Cramer in Canterbury Crt, Drouin and the Jacksons View Country Club.
"Instead of asking people to pay me for taking the photos I wanted people to donate so that I could give back to the community," she said.
Rayleen said Christmas was always a special time for her family and her late father Bill Slegers had played a special role in local community Christmas gatherings for many years.
She said raising money through her photography seemed an obvious community service. "It would have been something that my dad would have done if he was still around today."
"It was honestly overwhelming how many people turned up for the photos at Canterbury Crt. Roughly 100 families (maybe a few more) were photographed that night. I went to bed with my heart full knowing how many I captured that night. Then the excitement of family Christmas photos the next day at the Country Club," she said.
The donations to Rayleen's photo services raised $500, which Rayleen decided to donate to food relief to ensure many people in the community would gain benefit.
