Voter support for Goss and Lucas

by Emma Ballingall
Two positions on Baw Baw Shire Council look to be filled, with Ben Lucas and Danny Goss set to reclaim seats in the chamber when the new council sits in December.
However, the other seven councillors who will join them remains undecided.
Counting began at the Warragul Victorian Electoral Commission office last week, with first preference votes released for all three wards.
However, with only Mr Lucas and Mr Goss securing the quota of primary votes required, other candidates will need to rely on preferences.
Preferences will be calculated on Thursday afternoon, following the counting of ballot packs posted before deadline but received last week.
As counting started, it didn't take long for Mr Goss to take a strong lead in Central Ward on Wednesday morning.
By the end of the day, the Warragul resident had been the top pick of 39.1 per cent of voters.
However, Mr Lucas surpassed this figure on Friday, gaining an overwhelming 45.5 per cent of first preferences in West Ward.
