Fundraiser launched for young family

A young family has been rocked after the sudden death of 24-year-old Trafalgar father of two Lachlan Ward.

Friends quickly rallied around Lachlan's fiancée Georgia Osler, three-year-old son Rhys and nine-month-old daughter Paige as well as the extended Ward family by launching a GoFundMe fundraiser.
Already attracting 99 donations and raising $12,575, friend Rachael Tuffen said "emotions are so high at the moment" and "someone needed to do it" to ease the young family's burden.
Lachlan died when his vehicle collided with a fallen tree on Bull Swamp Rd at Warragul South last Monday morning. He was on his way to work as a cabinet maker at South Coast Kitchens in Newhaven.
"He was such a happy dude...he was just full of love," Ms Tuffen said. "He was a bit rough around the edges but his heart was enormous."
"He loved family and was always around mates," she said.
Ms Tuffen called on community members to support the fundraiser "in hopes of making this hard time easier on the family."
Lachlan, also known as Lach, grew up in Rokeby with his parents Kirsten and Ray. The family said he was inseparable from older brother Nathan, with the pair always getting up to mischief around the house.
He attended Buln Buln Primary School, Warragul Regional College and played footy for Neerim South Football Club.
Lach had a love of the outdoors, sharing his passion with family and friends. Fishing, hunting, camping, wood cutting and driving 4WDs, motorbikes and cars were amongst his favourite activities.
He met Georgia at primary school and the pair began dating in May 2020.
They purchased a house in Trafalgar and welcomed Rhys in August 2021 and Paige in January this year.
The couple were engaged and planning their wedding to be held early next year.
Described as a "larger than life" presence with a welcoming smile and enormous hugs, Lach's friends described him as humble, straight forward and a great friend.
But, he also was remembered as a family man.
"His world was perfect having his family by his side," Ms Tuffen said. "He was an incredibly hands-on father."
