Grants available for cricket facilities

While local cricket clubs may be focused on finals they have been urged not to take their eyes off the ball of potential grants towards upgrading facilities.
Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath has issued a reminder that applications for significant government grants are open for community cricket facilities.
Minor grants up to $15,000 and major grants to $40,000 are available.
Projects costing above $40,000 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applications close on March 25.
Ms Bath said the Strategic Cricket Infrastructure Fund was funded by Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia in partnership with federal, state and local governments.
As well as cricket clubs the grants are open to associations, schools, local government and cricket facility managers.
Ms Bath said more than 60 projects were supported by the fund in 2023-2024.
She said clubs did an excellent job investing in their facilities through their own fundraising efforts and the grants available could be game changers to support local cricketers and volunteers.
Country club
renovations
There will be lengthy disruptions expected for the next seven months for Warragul Country Club members, their guests and visitors.
Major refurbishments to the clubhouse, pro shop and outside terrace are targeted for completion by the first week in October. Parking also will be impacted.
A temporary pro shop will operate from a container in the car park and other areas have been set aside for builders' car parks and site offices.
A new addition, installation of a generator to supply power during black outs, is expected to be in place and operational by the middle of next month.
In a separate action the club has decided to close the bistro for meals on Mondays starting next month.
