Governor honour for Warragul JP

A Warragul Justice of the Peace, Geoff Lee, had a visit to Government House in Melbourne to thank him for 25 years service signing documents for community members.
The certificate of appreciation was presented to him by Governor Margaret Gardener before he and 100 other JPs recognised for their service joined her for afternoon tea.
Mr Lee has been part of the Warragul JPs group for the past 12 years where he has notched up 600 rostered attendances after previously providing similar service at San Remo.
Members are available to sign documents at the Warragul library on weekdays and Mr Lee said during 2023 they signed more than 15,000 documents for 4500 people.
The service operates from 10am to 2pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 10am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Mr Lee was delighted with the invitation to Government House and to be presented with a certificate of appreciation but didn't let the opportunity pass without putting in a good word to the Governor about his home area.
He said Governor Gardener was well aware of the population growth in the Warragul and Drouin area and told him she was hoping to make a formal visit to Gippsland, possibly as early as this year.
The Governor told Mr Lee it had been suggested to her that it would probably best to make two trips, separately to the western and eastern halves of the region, a point he said he also supported because of Gippsland's size.
