Sand Rd footpath fast tracked

A decision to fast track construction of a footpath linking the Longwarry township and freeway service station could be challenged, with the outcome now unknown until a new council deals with the matter.
Baw Baw Shire councillors were seemingly supportive of awarding a $500,000 tender to construct a 770 metre section of path along Sand Rd at their recent meeting.
However, the issue of how to fund the remaining 1560m of path was strongly debated.
Officers recommended the project be split into three stages, seeking external funding to complete the 2.3 kilometre footpath project in future years.
