A controversial flood overlay that stood to impact thousands of properties across Baw Baw Shire has been thrown out by council.
Councillors unanimously voted to abandon the proposed planning scheme that sought to update mapping of flood overlays to ensure flood risk and community safety in flood prone areas was appropriately managed.
About 3700 properties were identified as vulnerable to flooding in flood mapping data presented to council.
