Farnham missed from invites to stadium

A local politician appears to have been missed when Baw Baw Shire sent out invitations to a recent stadium official opening.
Local resident Irene Broadbent questioned why Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham was not invited to the Warragul Leisure Centre for the opening of the $12.8 million project during questions on notice at the recent council meeting.
Shire chief executive officer Mark Dupe answered it was "standard practice" for representatives of funding bodies to be invited to openings, including the state government if they had contributed funds.
"In the future, council will advise Mr Farnham's office of any major project openings," Mr Dupe answered.
However, asked if the shire would send an apology to Mr Farnham for "this embarrassing omission", Mr Dupe advised "no omission was made."
Ms Broadbent as well as Don McLean asked for costs incurred when a councillor delegation attended Canberra for the Australian National Local Government Association's national general assembly.
Mr Dupe said two councillors attended the annual event in early July at a total cost of $7036.
Attended by more than 1200 council delegates, Mr Dupe said they advocated alongside other mayors and chief executive officers, costing $1945 in accommodation, $385 in meals, $2086 in flights/travel, $2440 in registration and $178 in parking/taxis.
