The Narracan electorate office in Warragul closed on Friday.
It will remain closed until a new member of parliament is elected for the seat following the "failed" election that was due to be held last Saturday.
The former member Gary Blackwood officially retired on Friday.
The two-and-a-half full time equivalent (FTE) staff he employed cannot continue electorate office work while there is no member for the seat in parliament although they remain theoretically employed and will be paid until December 23 before being declared redundant if an election is not held before then.
The interim period is granted for them to seek other employment.
A date for a supplementary election has not been confirmed after Saturday's vote in Narracan was declared "failed" by the Victorian Electoral Commission following the death last Sunday week of The Nationals' candidate Shaun Gilchrist.
The VEC said it was not appropriate for it to comment on how, during the electorate office closure, constituents could raise local issues that might require government decision, intervention or direction.
