Drouin businesswoman Leonie Blackwell has put herself forward as a candidate in Narracan for the Freedom Party at the state election.
Ms Blackwell said standing for parliament was an extension of her willingness to serve the community having been involved in many local organisations and major events and projects at Drouin.
She opened her naturopathic business in Drouin more than 20 years ago after a teaching career, also conducts accredited personal development workshops and is an author of three books.
The Freedom Party is still waiting confirmation of its application for official registration as a political party lodged with the Victorian Electoral Commission in August.
Ms Blackwell said the party's main platform was to protect Victorian jobs, homes and families and ensure future generations have access to the best opportunities.
She said she was concerned about where Victoria is at the moment and the lack of transparency and honesty by the government.
We can't let the state go "down the gurgler" the way it is, Ms Blackwell said.
