"Desperate need" for new oval

With only two ovals to cater for 450 footy players, Drouin has a "desperate need" for a new reserve.
Drouin Football Club president Chris Soumilas told a Baw Baw Shire Council meeting that the town had only two footy grounds, including "the worst ground in the (Gippsland) League", despite strong growth in junior and female participation.
Mr Soumilas said Drouin had two ovals back in 1968 but "fast forward 54 years, we still only have two ovals". The town's population had jumped from 2500 to 16,000 people in that time, he said.
