A fitting eulogy for local music legend Albert H.Fox would be that he lived a life doing what he loved.
Mr Fox, aged 92, died on Wednesday.
Mr Fox was renowned, not only locally, but across Australia and in many other parts of the world for his skills and knowledge particularly with pianos.
He and wife Barbara moved to Warragul from Melbourne in 1957, establishing Albert H. Fox piano tuning and sales.
It was a successful business not just in tuning, servicing and providing pianos that were, for many years, a feature of local homes and a centrepiece of sing-a-longs and social life for many families and their friends.
Mr Fox's skills took him all around Australia and some remote parts of Papua New Guinea tuning and repairing pianos.
With wife Barbara he established the Darnum Music Village in 1981 where he continued to service and restore pianos and put together a huge collection that spread from antique to modern and from small to grand pianos and hordes of music related memorabilia.
The music village drew thousands of visitors over the years to see his collection and broaden their knowledge of the instrument.
It also hosted many extremely popular concerts as well as private celebrations.
In 2019 they reluctantly closed the doors.
It was, Mr Fox reflected several years later, a sad time with nobody else willing to take on what would have been a daunting prospect of trying to fill his shoes.
A book he wrote, the Magic of Music, about his "busy and rewarding life" in the music industry will keep his memory alive for many years to come.
