Could council take over Longwarry oval?

A new councillor has set facility upgrades at Longwarry Recreation Reserve top of her agenda - starting with a look at land ownership.
Cr Jess Hamilton called for an officer report on the viability of Baw Baw Shire purchasing the parcel of land at her first council meeting.
Owned by the state government and managed by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Cr Hamilton said council was understandably not willing to put any money into improving site infrastructure.
However, if the state government gifts the land to council, she believed council could "get some stuff done".
