Company fined after milk tanker tragedy

A transport company has been convicted and fined $490,000 following the death of a truck driver at Leongatha four years ago.
Peter Stoitse Transport Pty Ltd pleaded guilty in Latrobe Valley County Court last week to two charges of failing to provide and maintain a safe working environment.
The company was fined $300,000 for failing to provide a safe system of work and $150,000 for failing to provide information, instruction or training.
It also was fined a further $40,000 after pleading guilty to one charge of failing to notify WorkSafe of another incident.
