No one was injured when a car accelerated into a Drouin hairdressers yesterday morning.
Police said the crash caused extensive structural damage to Haze Hair in Princes Way at about 10.45am.
The car, a 2019 Hyundai station wagon, was driven by an 87-year-old woman. She escaped injury as did nearby pedestrians. The hairdressers was closed at the time.
Police believe the vehicle was in a parking bay outside the shop when the driver accelerated, travelling over a footpath and into the shopfront window. The vehicle bounced off the building before it accelerated into the shopfront for a second time.
The driver then reversed out of the shopfront and into a parking spot.
In addition to extensive structural damage, the building sustained cosmetic damage to the shopfront and interior.
