Candlelight vigil to be held tonight
1 min read

A national candlelight vigil will be held tonight to remember those who have been killed by domestic and family violence.
As the West Gippsland Arts Centre lights up purple, community members are encouraged to honour their memories and help bring light to this national crisis.
Over the past 10 years in Australia, one woman has been killed almost every week and one child killed each fortnight in the context of domestic and family violence.
The annual vigil is a national day of remembrance to bring communities together and light a candle while they stand in solidarity.
The vigil also is a call to action to speak up, lifting the veil of silence that surrounds domestic and family violence, and reach out for support if experiencing, and/or perpetrating violence.
Gippsland Women's Health is supporting organisations across Gippsland to light up community venues purple and hold candlelight vigils, whether it be privately at home or at a community based vigil.
The vigils will provided a space for people to come together to grieve and share message of hope.
