Making access to medication and healthcare easier is the focus of a new ALP election promise announced this week.
The ALP has committed to investing $19 million to deliver a 12-month trial that will see community pharmacists able to treat some minor health conditions and reissue contraceptive prescriptions.
Under the pilot, pharmacists will be able to treat minor illnesses like common skin conditions, and straightforward urinary tract infections, administer travel vaccinations and reissue prescriptions for contraceptives.
