Liberal candidate for Monash Mary Aldred has assured party faithful she would work her heart out to help communities and businesses thrive and grow if she was elected on May 3.
Speaking to hundreds of Liberal Party supporters at her campaign launch on Saturday, Ms Aldred said the Monash electorate was worth fighting for.
"We have a really big task ahead of us both locally and nationally.
"Do you feel better off than you did three years ago? We need a change of government - and that starts in Monash. Don't anyone tell you this is a safe seat, we have an enormous job to do.
"I will work my heart out for you every day of the week," she said.
Ms Aldred said she had spent two decades "standing up for this great community" in various roles from chief executive officer of Lifeline to standing up for farmers and agribusiness.
Endorsing Ms Aldred as an "extraordinary" candidate, Senator Jane Hume called on the party to support Ms Aldred over the next three weeks.
She said Ms Aldred had been working hard for 550 days and it was time to make a change to the government.
"You are poorer under Labor and you are going backwards. We can do better. We need Peter Dutton to be elected and we need Mary Aldred to be elected.
"We need to replace coal fired power stations with clean nuclear energy and bring down the cost of housing.
"The crime increase in Victoria is staggering and the Labor government for 10 years in Victoria should be a warning bell for the rest of the country," she said.
Former long serving Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood said it was rare for the party to have such an incredible candidate - "Mary is so experienced, so intelligent and is an incredible woman."
Mr Blackwood said voters needed to be aware of candidates' backgrounds - particularly the "Climate 200 candidate - she is a Teal and she will spend up to $1 million on this campaign. Seventy three per cent of the time in Parliament, the Teals have voted with Greens or Labor," he said.
