$250 electricity bonus now available
1 min read

Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath is urging households to seek a better deal on energy costs and receive a bonus payment of $250.
Ms Bath said the one-off payment was available until the end of June next year if people compare prices offered by energy providers.
The quickest way do that is by visiting www,compare.energy.vic.gov.au or telephoning the Victorian Energy Compare helpline on 1800 000 832.
Every household that does the comparison, whether they switch providers or not, is guaranteed the payment, but can claim it only once, Ms Bath stated.
She said Gippsland people paid some of the highest prices in the state for electricity and gas and data showed seven out of 10 households could save about $330 in the first year on their bills by switching providers.
The latest $250 bonus payment that came into effect from July 1 is available to households that previously claimed a $50 or $250 power saving bonus.
Ms Bath said the bonus was separate to a Non-Mains Energy Concession available until the end of this year to eligible concession card holders to help cover yearly energy costs for heating, cooking and hot water.
To be eligible for the payment people must hold a Pensioner Concession, Health Care or Veterans' Affairs Gold Card and be able to provide copies of invoices and receipts for payments made.
Ms Bath said anyone needing help applying for the power saving bonus could contact her office on (03) 5174 7066 or their local Neighbourhood House (at Warragul 5623 6032).
