Multi million dollar storm bill

Almost 700 requests for trees across roads or storm impacts were made to Baw Baw Shire Council during the recent storm event.
And, the repair bill facing council is expected to exceed $3.2 million.
In fact, Cr Peter Kostos believes council would be facing a claim in the vicinity of $10 million.
The rough estimate came less than three days after the storm peaked as acting chief executive officer Martin Hopley requested assistance at Wednesday's council meeting.
Councillors authorised spending what was required to enable the storm response and clean up to proceed. It was also noted both Cr Annemarie McCabe and chief executive officer Mark Dupe would write to relevant ministers and departments seeking a six-month extension for council to lodge its claims.
