Flooding in Warragul and surrounding areas

Ellen Close in Warragul is closed this morning due to flooding along the road. 

The road has been blocked off by Baw Baw Shire Council staff and water has reached the perimeter of several of properties.

This comes as a moderate flood warning has been issued for Latrobe River from Yallourn to Traralgon Creek, and a minor flood warning has been issued for Moe River.

Minor flooding is currently occurring at the Moe River at Darnum. The Moe River at Darnum had reached 3.50m and was still rising at 11am Wednesday. 

Further showers are expected in the area and may lead to further river rises. 

Residents in the Latrobe River warning zone have been issued a 'Watch and Act', and are being encourage to prepare for flooding and take actions to protect their lives and properties. Included in this warning area is Erica, Western Tyers, Tyers Junction, Moondarra, Yallourn, Morwell and Hazelwood North and South. 

Since 9am this morning Nilma North has recorded 4.4mm of rain. In the 24 hours up to 9am this morning 29.4mm of rain was recorded at Nilma North. 

The advice from VicEmergency is to be prepared to act if the situation changes, stay informed and never swim or play in floodwater.
