A good cow doesn't have a bad colour, according to a United States judge who has praised the quality of cattle he saw at almost 50 Gippsland properties over recent weeks.
Roger Turner, from Wisconsin, has been judging cattle for 30 years but he said the 356 animals entered in this year's Leading Edge on-farm competition were high quality.
The winning accolades were shared between between the Thomson family at Fish Creek and MPH#2 at Labertouche during this year's competition which is now in its 14th year and on one of the largest of its kind in Australia.
The competition attracted 356 head of cattle from 48 different breeder
