West Gippsland Australian Stock Horse branch held its annual show on March 8 and 9 at Garfield North equestrian grounds.
Three rings ran continuously during the weekend giving competitors plenty of opportunity to display the ability of their horses.
Alison Boote from New South Wales judged ring one for four-years and under led and ridden classes and five-years and over senior ridden horses. Her daughter, Jess McLeod judged the five-years and over led horses and working classes.
Jen Todd, also from NSW, took the young and inexperienced riders under her wing in the youth classes giving guidance and encouragement. She then continued with the utility classes.
The three judges returned to the showring on Sunday to judge the futurities, maturity, open Hack and open challenges.
As an added feature on this year's program, three two-handed cutting classes judged by Dominic Montesanti from Longwarry, a recognised judge and highly successful competitor in the cutting and cow horse competition disciplines.
The working cow horse discipline also was added to four-year-old maturity and open challenge which Mr Montesanti was able to judge at the same time.
The supreme ridden exhibit was split this year to introduce the inaugural supreme working exhibit, sponsored by branch life member Aub Goodman of Longwarry.
Mr Goodman has a long association with the branch and his passion has always been the working horse discipline.
