A new report has found that Victorian dairy farmers enjoyed one their most profitable 12 months in the past 17 years due to a combination of high milk prices and carefully managed costs.
The Dairy Farm Monitor Project - a collaboration between Dairy Australia and Agriculture Victoria - tracks 80 dairy farm businesses (including a number in West Gippsland) across Victoria. The businesses tracked are representative of the industry's feed systems, farm sizes and herd make up.
