Students learn vital life saving skills
1 min read

Almost 900 local students learned vital life-saving skills recently as part of a first aid program to prepare them for any future emergency situation.
Students had the opportunity to take on the training activities that taught them a variety of first aid skills.
These included recognising and responding to emergencies with the DRSABCD Action Plan (Danger, Response, Send, Airway, Breathing, CPR and Defibrillation), viewed various first aid materials and equipment such as an AED (automated external defibrillator) and practised CPR for adults and infants.
They also learned about other potential emergencies and how to treat them, such as anaphylaxis and asthma, wound management as well as shock, cardiac, stroke and choking conditions.
Students will be accredited with HLTAID010 - provide basic emergency life support.
The training was conducted by St John Ambulance and funded by Baw Baw Big Blokes.
