Students at Yarragon Primary School have been busy expanding their learning and thinking creatively.
The school's Student Excellence Program has seen students tackling challenging puzzles, circuits and other tasks in a bid to get the most academically advanced students excited about learning.
Learning and maths specialist Lisa Kala said students had been really enjoying their sessions.
"Each term we target two cohorts - we've got the (grades) threes and the fives this term - we take the top four academic (students) in either reading or numeracy.
"It's all about problem-solving, exploring different solutions, investigating, and inventions.
"To get them excited about thinking, in class, they are being stretched, but this is a bit more creativity for them."
So far, the school has received excellent feedback from students and teachers.
Local business owner Doug Earwicker, from The Three Cheeky Monkeys, also has become involved in the Student Excellence Program.
Each session, Doug brings in a collection of new and exciting puzzle games for the students to solve.
He shows them how the puzzles work and then the students set out trying to solve them, often working collaboratively to do so.
At each session, the room is abuzz with excitement as students approach teachers to make sure their work is correct, and when they get a "yes" a celebration is always in order.
