St Paul's teams compete on national stage

Sport aerobics students from St Paul's Anglican Grammar School recently qualified for the School Aerobics National Championships, allowing them to compete at the Gold Coast once again.
To earn their spot at the nationals, students were required to qualify earlier in the year, first at the 2022 Victorian State Qualifiers at Rowville Performing Arts Centre in May, and then at the Victorian State Finals held at the Geelong Arena in June.
Qualifying for each event is no mean feat, with students committing to many early, before school training sessions to learn new routines, gain fitness and improve skills.

At the regional competition, the Saintly Ladies (open B division) and Saintly Angels (secondary division) both finished second in their sections, while the Saintly Dolls (stage one division) finished fourth. All three teams advanced to the Victorian finals thanks to the tenacity and perseverance of every student.
At the state finals in Geelong, two teams qualified for the nationals, with the Saintly Angels placing third and the Saintly Ladies placing second in their respective divisions.
At the nationals, the Saintly Angels performed an outstanding routine and placed 11th nationally in their division. The Saintly Ladies also performed an outstanding routine and placed fourth nationally in their division.

Jemma Douglas, Eliza-Bel Fraser and Holly Norris, former St Paul's students and graduates who have all experienced the thrill of competing at the nationals, have served as the teams' mentors, coaches, and guides throughout the year.
Sport aerobics is one of the co-curricular activities offered at St Paul's which helps students develop their fitness, strength and technique while fostering new friendships and teamwork.
