A grade six student at St Columba's Catholic Primary School at Bunyip has been awarded the prestigious MacKillop Social Justice Award.
Eliza Clark, who received the honour at the school's graduation and awards ceremony, will continue her schooling next year at Marist-Sion College in Warragul.
The award, sponsored by the Bunyip community newsletter, recognises Mary Helen MacKillop, a religious sister canonised in 2010 as Australia's only saint by the Catholic Church as Saint Mary of the Cross.
The award by the school recognises a student who "demonstrates extraordinary achievements and commitment to promoting and practising diversity, inclusion, equity and access".
Teachers nominated Eliza for the award, describing her as quietly spoken and respectful and who had always tried to be helpful and kind to others during her years at St Columba's.
