Students at Longwarry Primary School participated in a vibrant celebration of Japanese culture recently in honour of world Pokémon Day.
The event, which aimed to promote cultural awareness while having a bit of fun, featured a series of engaging activities that delighted students and staff.
The festivities kicked off with students dressing up in creative Pokémon-inspired outfits, showcasing their favourite characters from the iconic franchise. From Pikachu to Charizard, the school was filled with colourful costumes, bringing the world of Pokémon to life.
In addition to costumes, the school organised a variety of exciting activities. Students participated in a lively colouring competition where they showed off their artistic skills by bringing their favourite Pokémon to life.
The excitement continued with a scavenger hunt, where clues related to Pokémon and Japanese culture were hidden around the school grounds, sparking teamwork and friendly competition. "Pokémon Day was an incredible opportunity to bring Japanese culture to life in a fun and engaging way for our students.
"The excitement in the air was contagious, and it was fantastic to see everyone, from the students to the staff, embracing the Pokémon theme while also learning about its cultural roots in Japan," said the school's Japanese teacher Morton Sensei.
"Events like this allow us to connect with students in a creative way and spark an interest in learning about the rich traditions and history behind their favourite characters."
A fun day was had by all, with students and teachers alike looking forward to more opportunities to celebrate diverse cultures in the future.
