Senior students at Nilma Primary School were presented with their student leadership badges at a special assembly marking the beginning of the new school year.
The school community came together for the presentation, with Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham and school council acting president Kate Campbell to recognise and present all year six students with their badges and year six jumpers.
All year six students are provided with opportunities to develop their leadership skills taking on roles and responsibilities within the school. A big part of this is running fortnightly assemblies and regular responsibilities such as raising the flags each morning, organising sports equipment and lunchtime icy-pole sales.
Student leaders also represent the school throughout the year at significant events such as Remembrance Day and Anzac Day services.
By recognising all year six students as leaders, the students build confidence and self-belief whilst developing leadership skills and qualities for working together to achieve goals.
