Students at Willow Grove Primary School recently celebrated national Grandparents Day with their grandparents or a special person in their lives.
The school, which has 68 students, was flooded with more than 80 visitors on the day.
Each student proudly showed some of their work and participated in joint activities.
In the prep to grade two class the students showed off their writing books and bags of Lego. The students had been learning to write procedural texts and they used this new found skill to give their families instructions on how to build a Lego car.
They gave their families instructions and a bag of Lego and asked them to build a car following the instructions they had written.
The grades three to four class showed their model boats. During the school's recent swimming week, the class had learnt about floatation devices and then using recycled materials, they built boats and rescue devices. They also traced around their families' hands and wrote about the things they love doing together.
In grades five and six the grandparents were presented with an Ode, written by the students to their special person. Students also demonstrated the use of Tinker Cad and 3D printers.
A whole school assembly followed the classroom activities. Although nervous, the school student leaders shone as they presented assembly to the extended families of the school.
Their families were delighted to see them lead the school and to see the respect shown by the other students as the assembly was presented.
