1 min read

Warragul Lions Club recently hosted a junior public speaking competition.
Held at the Warragul Country Club, the competition was run for primary school students in grades three, four, five and six. It gives students the chance to develop their public speaking skills and improve self-confidence.
Ten students competed this year and represented Darnum, Warragul and Warragul North Primary Schools.
For the competition each student must prepare and deliver a speech on a pre-determined topic. The time allocated for the speech is three minutes for grades three and four students and four minutes for grades five and six students.
The topics this year were: grades three and four - "My Favourite Fairytale or Book Character;" and, grades five and six - "Who is the most influential person in your life?"
Each of the students performed very well, making the judges' decision difficult.
Winners were Ned Pugh of Warragul North Primary School for the grades three and four section and Sienna Mooney of Darnum Primary School in the grades five and six sectioon.
The two winners will now go onto the next stage of the competition which finishes with the Lions 201V3 District final in October.
