Children flourish at new kindergarten

Young learners at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School's new kindergarten in Drouin are already flourishing as they settle into their new facility.
Having opened its doors in January, the facility features four spacious classrooms, a large central gathering area, a community room and two expansive play areas: one nature-based with climbing structures, a sandpit and play equipment, and the other a grassed area for active play.
The three-year-old pre-kinder students and four-year-old pre-prep students have been soaking up the outdoor spaces while establishing their new routines.
Director Richelle Harris said the children had settled into their new environment with ease.
"Each morning, we start the day outside exploring the playground with gross motor activities like jumping on the jouncing board, walking along the tops of the rocks and swinging on the bird's nest swing," she said.
Like the garden around them, the children have been growing and thriving as they help take care of their beautiful outdoor spaces.
"The children use the water pump to fill watering cans and look after all the new plants in our garden. Recently, the Pre-Prep group have started planting in our kitchen garden and we hope to see that flourish very quickly," Richelle said.
