Being creative in STEM
1 min read

Grade four to six students at Ellinbank Primary School had the chance to flex their creative muscles recently as they designed, planned and built bird houses as part of the school's STEM program.
The school's specialised STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - shed was alive with activity during the process with the sounds of hammering, sawing and nailing.
STEM teacher Nick Carter taught what the different tools were capable of, how to use them safely and provided many practice pieces of wood before the students began to make their bird houses.
For many students this was the first time they had used a hammer, saw and nails and they were all excited to continue learning and creating more in the STEM shed next term.
