The Victorian Schools Garden Program recently visited Neerim South Primary School, to teach students about insects that are good for the garden.
Continuing their knowledge of gardens and natural habitats, students across all year levels learnt about which plants are best to grow in gardens to bring the good insects in and repel insects that can cause damage.
The Victorian Schools Garden Program donated some plants to the Neerim South Primary School habitat garden to help promote good insects.
Gloves and shovels in hand, the students planted the new plants themselves. Since its creation in 2020, the habitat garden has provided an outdoor learning and play area for students.
During science and integrated lessons, students are able to harvest and cook bush foods and observe the various species that have made the habitat garden their home.
