Students learn to identify feelings at Drouin West
1 min read

Students at Drouin West Primary School learnt the best way to identify, control and express different emotions during a recent incursion with Mindfull Aus.
Over a number of workshop sessions, students explored the six core emotions and discussed the importance of validating people's feelings.
Breaking into small discussion groups and talking with the Mindfull Aus presenters, students discussed techniques and strategies that can be used to control big feelings.
The program also explored the importance of discussing thoughts, feelings and emotions with trusted adults, teachers and friends.
Principal Kelly Halliday said the Minfdull Aus incursion aimed to enhance emotional literacy among students.
"Drouin West Primary School partnered with Mindful Aus with the aim of taking a proactive approach to further cultivate our students' emotional development," Mrs Halliday said.
"Our goal is to empower students to validate each emotion they experience and equip them with strategies to effectively identify, regulate, and express them. By integrating this initiative alongside our ongoing curriculum, we aim to enhance emotional literacy among our students.
"We believe that by doing so, both our students and educators will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of emotional expression and regulation throughout their lives," she said.
