Drouin Primary School students participated in a "free dress with a splash of Christmas" day recently while conducting a food drive for Baw Baw Food Relief.
Junior school council member Phoebe said they chose to have the food drive as the last fundraiser for the year to support families who might be struggling at Christmas this year.
"Many families go all out at Christmas dinner with bucket loads of food, but some local families can't afford to do this. This was our way of saying merry Christmas and making sure that no one goes without," she said.
Baw Baw Food Relief manager Anne Pascoe and her attended at the school to collect the donations and were very grateful for the students' efforts.
"Thanks to Drouin Primary School for their great donations of food," she said. "We really appreciate it all."
Students are keen to repeat the fundraiser again next Christmas, as they all saw the value of making a difference to local families.
