A Melbourne man in his 30s died at Blue Rock Lake on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the man travelled to the Willow Grove location to go fishing with another person.
They believe he entered the lake near Old Tanjil Rd, got into difficulties and was retrieved at about 1.30pm. Whilst still determining the exact circumstances, the matter is not believed to be suspicious.
Passers-by performed CPR on the unresponsive man but he died at the scene.
Police and paramedics attended. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police have urged visitors to lakes and waterways to read all safety signage, be aware of dangers and take care around water.
Be aware of currents and fast-flowing water; submerged objects; slippery banks; and changing seasonal patterns.
