Warragul SES members visited Darnum Primary School on Tuesday to teach students about what the volunteer based association does for the community.
Principal Jai Law said the visit was part of a series of presentations made to students from various community institutions such as police, ambulance and fire brigades. "We have welcomed a number of institutions in the community to teach the kids about what each of them do," he said.
Students were taught about how the SES was on hand to help the community in emergency situations such as car accidents, flooding, fire, earthquake and other natural disasters.
Warragul SES community engagement facilitator Jess Fairness said the visit was one of a number the Warragul SES did across the area to educate children about what the organisation does in the community.
The SES provides emergency assistance to thousands of Victorians every year. In 2019-2020 VICSES responded to 33,742 emergency incidents across the state, contributing a total of 382,141 hours helping Victorians in need.
