Budget submissions open early

Residents will have more time and opportunity to have their say on Baw Baw Shire Council's budget this year.
Historically opening in May, community feedback will instead open from Tuesday, January 28 for just over two weeks - with online, written and email options available.
Baw Baw Shire mayor Danny Goss said opening consultation earlier would help inform residents from the beginning of the process, adding he wants to "hear from you."
"This is the first budget of our council term and will set out which long-term projects council will commit to delivering," Cr Goss said. "We are keen to hear what matters to our community to ensure it delivers what our residents want and need."
Residents are urged to start thinking of their recommendations for council's investments and priorities now, with the one-off budget submissions only open until Sunday, February 16. Feedback will help shape the draft 2025/26 budget.
Further consultation opportunities will be offered in April. Key documents such as the draft 2025/26 budget, council plan 2021-25 annual review, draft rating and revenue plan and draft long term financial plan will be released at this time.
For the second consecutive year, consultation will take place through online platform bawbawconnect.com.au which offers enhanced flexibility and a more user-friendly interface.
However, written feedback can be posted to Baw Baw Shire Council, PO Box 304, Warragul 3820 and emails sent to budget.submissions@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au as alternative ways for residents to have their say.
"Our shire has a population of more than 62,000 residents, which is projected to grow to nearly 88,000 by the year 2041, meaning its crucial we are investing not only now but into the future for Baw Baw Shire," Cr Goss said.
