West Gippsland Arts Centre has been named one of Victoria's top regional theatres by the RACV.
A recent survey led the centre to be listed amongst several world-class Victorian theatres including Her Majesty's Ballarat, Ulumbarra Theatre in Bendigo and the Geelong Arts Centre.
The RACV commended WGAC, describing it as a "major arts and performance hub for the region... (that) began as a vision shared by a small group of passionate locals".
"From nationally touring musicians to performances from the Victorian State Ballet, the venue sees a wide variety of shows, as well as hosting community events to support the growing region."
Baw Baw Shire mayor Michael Leaney said WGAC being recognised is no surprise.
"From its high-quality function spaces to its long list of exciting shows and performances - the arts centre holds up to its reputation as the region's leading performing arts and cultural space," he said.
"We look forward to seeing the line-up of shows and entertainment set to hit the stage in the coming year. It's sure to pack in the crowds, from Baw Baw and beyond."
The arts centre underwent a major $13.4 million redevelopment in 2017 and after emerging from a two-year pandemic-forced hiatus in 2021, has continued to be a community hub.
Recent hit shows and sell-outs include Human Nature, Kate Miller-Heidke and the Wiggles, and upcoming shows are Guy Sebastian T.R.U.T.H. On The East Side Tour and Bjorn Again-Mamma Mia.
