Scarlett takes on VSSS
2 min read

State school students from across Victoria will take the stage at John Cain Arena this Saturday for the Victorian State School Spectacular.
Joining the orchestra for the third consecutive year is Warragul Regional College year 11 student Scarlett Schutte.
Performing in the "violin two" section, Scarlett will be on stage alongside a cast and crew of 3000 Victorian government school students for almost the entire show.
"There are a couple of (songs) that violins aren't in this year," she said.
The theme for this year's show, "Splash", was suggested by the cast. The show will portray a little girl's dream sequence, sailing across the seas, exploring rivers, and delving into life above and beneath the waves, right down to the microscopic world of a drop of dew.
Featuring hit music from artists including Eskimo Joe, Matilda the Musical, Lady Gaga, Vance Joy, Queen and Beethoven, as well as unique commissioned poems by an emerging young resident poet and newly composed orchestral scores, "Splash" is set to demonstrate that although oceans can divide us, they can also connect us.
Rehearsals for this year's Spectacular commenced in March. Every Sunday, Scarlett and the other performers travelled to Melbourne for a full day of practice.
"It's been amazing," she said. "I've decided I'm going to do it again next year because it's just so good and I can't give it up!"
This will be Scarlett's third year performing in the Victorian State School Spectacular. She said the opportunity to meet and work with incredible people is what keeps her coming back each year.
"The (overall) experience and getting to meet all these people with the same interests as you is really cool," she said. "Working with all the well-known tutors has been really enjoyable."
Performing two shows in John Cain Arena, Scarlett is looking forward to playing for a large audience.
"I love how amazing it feels (to perform to a large audience) and how cool it is that at such a young age we have this opportunity." "I love that I can share (the experience) with my friends and family."
The Victorian State School Spectacular will perform two shows at John Cain Arena this Saturday September 14 at 1pm and 6:30pm.
The show will be recorded and televised in December.
