Singer-songwriter and guitarist Daniel Champagne will return to the Wesley of Warragul on Saturday as part of his Australian tour.
Originally from the New South Wales south coast, Daniel said he first picked up a guitar at age five, following in the footsteps of his dad. He began writing songs at age 12, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could.
When he finished school at age 18, Daniel began his professional career and started touring across the world.
"This will be my second time performing (at the Wesley of Warragul) and it's an incredible venue," Daniel said.
"I've been touring around the world this year, through the USA, Europe, Canada and New Zealand and now I'm back in Australia."
Daniel described his performance style as "intimate", with a acoustic, singer songwriter sound.
"It's quite intimate, very much a seated, listening concert experience," he said. "I play guitar and sing. A lot of the guitar playing is very experimental, sort of extended percussive techniques. Any fans of guitar and singer-songwriter style music would be into the gig."
Back on home soil after his international tour, Daniel said he was looking forward to touring through regional communities.
"Often (performances in regional communities) get the warmest reception," he said.
"If you're playing in Melbourne on any given night, there (are other) interest shows for people to check out but in a smaller town there might not be as much coming through. Often people are even more inviting."
When asked what he enjoys most about creating and performing music, Daniel said it was the connections music helps create.
"(I enjoy) connecting with other people and sharing art and life experiences," he said. "Music has also been a great vessel to let me get around the world, see different places and meet lots of interesting people."
Daniel Champagne will perform at the Wesley of Warragul on Saturday at 7pm. Tickets are available to purchase online at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1210451
