Classical and Czech chamber music at WOW

Drouin pianist Brian Chapman will be joined by violinist Susan Pierotti and cellist Rosanne Hunt at Wesley of Warragul on Saturday, March 8 for a varied program of chamber music.
Beginning at 3pm, the program will range from the traditional, formal elegance of Mozart, through the searching intensity and other-worldly beauty of late-Beethoven, to Dvořák's emotionally wild roller-coaster journey, and the six Slavic ballads of his famous 'Dumky' Trio.
The concert will open with Mozart's melodious Sonata No.26 in B flat for violin and piano. All three movements reveal a sunny outlook with joyful themes passed back and forth between the two instruments.
This will be followed by Beethoven's final Sonata No.5 in D for cello and piano. The sonata features a sublime, ecstatic slow movement surrounded by a powerfully energetic first movement and a 'tongue-in-cheek' fugal finale.
After interval, all three musicians will join forces, sweeping the audience away with the impassioned rhythms and lyricism of Dvořák's Trio No.4 in E minor for piano, violin and cello.
Tickets for the performance are available to purchase online via wesleyofwarragul.org.au or at the door. Advanced booking is recommended.
