Celebrate the songs that made Memphis

The Garfield Picture Theatre will host "Sun Rising - The Songs That Made Memphis", a tribute to "Sun Records", one of the most well known recording studios in the history of music.
Sun Rising features incredible musical performances, a brilliant narrative and stunning renditions of some of the world's most loved music.
Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Barbara Pittman, Roy Orbison and many more, all started their careers at Sun Records under the watchful guidance of studio owner and producer, Sam Phillips.
"Sun Rising - The Songs That Made Memphis", is the brainchild of Melbourne Musicians, Damon Smith and David Cosma and showcases some of the best early rock and roll and blues music.
It has toured Australia extensively, playing sold-out shows at performing arts centres and theatres as well as headlining several international renown festivals. Along with their seasoned band members, Lisa Marmur, Trent McKenzie, Adam Coad and Adrian Whyte, Smith and Cosma enjoy independent music careers which have seen them share stages with Bernard Fanning, Johnny Diesel, Wilbur Wilde, Normie Rowe, Frankie J Holden, the Whitlams and more.
Between them, they have recorded and released numerous albums that have been featured on television, broadcasted internationally and won multiple awards. Sun Rising - The Songs That Made Memphis" will appear at the Garfield Picture Theatre on June 3 from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
