The Warragul Camera Club will celebrate a milestone this week with the opening of its 50th Warragul National Photographic Exhibition.
The exhibition will open at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Friday, May 12 and run to Sunday, May 14, opening from 10am to 4pm each day. Entry is free and features work from across Australia.
There is an open section, and specific categories like portrait, animals and wildlife, architecture, creative, still life, and landscape/seascape.
Photographers will be vying for "Most Outstanding Image", however, there will also be a People's Choice section, which allows visitors to get involved and vote for their favourite photograph.
Images from the Gazette Readers Photographic Competition will also be featured on a digital screen throughout the exhibition.
Awards and prizes will be handed out on Saturday from 2pm and a special video will feature Elaine Berryman, who will talk about the beginnings of the exhibition. Elaine and Roy Berriman were founders and long-time supporters of the Warragul National Photographic Exhibition.
The 50th anniversary celebration event includes the ticketed guest speaker presentation at 3.30pm Saturday when a professional speaker will discuss and demonstrate how to take social documentary photos to record human activities. This presentation is unique and is for all who are keen to improve and understand their photography on either phone or camera.

Gourmet finger food will be served, and drinks will be available from the bar after the guest presentation.
